Project Overview
Palestine Aid, in partnership with Medics Worldwide (MW) and supported by international humanitarian charities and donors, has developed a fleet of 5 Mobile Maternity Clinics designed to provide urgent, life-saving maternal and newborn care to women affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
These mobile units have been developed in direct response to the collapse of fixed maternity and obstetric services, severe shortages of medical facilities, and restricted access to hospitals for pregnant women in conflict-affected areas.
Once deployed, the clinics will enable qualified medical teams to reach women and newborns in some of the most vulnerable and underserved locations.
How Many Clinics Are There?
The project currently consists of five fully adapted vehicles, each converted into a mobile maternity unit capable of delivering essential maternal and neonatal services.
Each unit is designed to operate independently and can be deployed flexibly depending on access, security conditions, and humanitarian need.
What Will the Clinics Do?
Each Mobile Maternity Clinic is equipped to provide:
Antenatal and postnatal care
Safe delivery support
Emergency obstetric triage and referrals
Newborn health checks
Maternal health consultations
Essential reproductive health services
The clinics are designed to bridge the gap where hospitals are inaccessible, damaged, or overwhelmed, ensuring continuity of care for pregnant women and new mothers.
Who Will Operate the Clinics?
The clinics will be operated by the Ministry of Health, Palestine, and local medical professionals.
Each unit will be staffed by qualified healthcare personnel, including:
Midwives
Doctors
Nurses
Support staff
All services will be delivered in line with international humanitarian and medical standards, safeguarding patient dignity, safety, and confidentiality.

How Much Does Each Clinic Cost?
Each mobile unit represents a significant investment covering:
Vehicle procurement or conversion

Operational readiness and compliance
Exact per-unit costs average £75,000 and vary depending on configuration and equipment requirements.

Where Are the Clinics Now?
The clinics are fully adapted and operationally ready and are currently positioned outside Gaza in Egypt, awaiting safe and authorised access for deployment.
What Is Holding Up Deployment?
Deployment is currently delayed due to:
Access and border restrictions
Security conditions within Gaza
Coordination requirements with relevant authorities and humanitarian corridors
Palestine Aid and Medics Worldwide are working continuously with partners to secure the necessary approvals to allow safe entry and operation.
