Case Study: Karim’s Story
Help a Young Orphan Rebuild Safety, Learning and Hope
Karim is a young Palestinian child from Gaza who has experienced devastating loss at a very early age. During the war, he lost both of his parents, as well as one of his young siblings and several close relatives. This tragedy left Karim and his surviving siblings without the protection, comfort and security of their mother and father.
After the loss of their family members and with the situation becoming increasingly dangerous, Karim’s surviving relatives made the difficult decision to leave Gaza in search of safety. The journey was extremely hard, but the family eventually reached Egypt, where they are now trying to rebuild their lives while carrying the emotional weight of everything they have endured.
Karim is currently living with his grandmother, who is caring for him and his siblings. Although he is physically well, the family remains vulnerable. They are living in rented accommodation and depend on charitable support to cover their basic needs.
Despite the trauma and disruption he has faced, Karim continues to show signs of hope and childhood resilience. He enjoys playing football and dreams of becoming an engineer when he grows up. He is currently continuing his education and needs ongoing support to help him remain in school, feel safe and grow in a stable environment.
Karim’s situation is especially sensitive because he and his siblings have lost both parents and are now dependent on their grandmother. The family needs support with food, rent, basic living costs and continued education so the children can have stability after such unimaginable loss.
